I will be starting pre-season simming tomorrow. All trades will be processed up to and including the first few games of sims, and will gradually work through the pre-season for the rest of the week. This will give people an idea of player performances.
Please note: Pre-season is exactly that, and putting too much stock into small sample sizes could be either beneficial or costly.
FAQs
How Long Will a Season Be in Real Life Time?
It will take me approximately 2-3 months to complete each season in real-life time. I expect to be able to sim about 4-5 seasons per real-life year.
That should give you a good example of how long players will last on this site, given their years remaining.
Example:
1 YR = about 2-3 months on the site
5 YR = about 1 year on the site
10 YR = roughly 2-2.5 years on the site
15 YR = roughly 2.5-3 years on the site
20 YR = roughly 3.5-4 years on the site
That should also give you an idea on draft pick acquisitions. We have 2 rounds each season. If you are targeting specific players in specific draft years, knowing how long a season lasts could help you decide how you want to manage your team moving forward.
How Will Stats/Standings Be Displayed?
Every month completed in the sim, I will post the league leaders in specific categories for both skaters and goaltenders, as well as post the rundown of every team's individual stats. You will know who is doing what throughout the season, so you don't have to go through the effort of tallying your own stats.
I will be doing the same thing for Standings.
How do Standings Work?
It's 1990-91. Same rules apply. Wins. Loss. Ties. That's right, you can tie a game! And then you can trash talk your opponent about who tied the game better than the other, or something like that.
Can I Trade a Draft Pick Years from Now?
Yes, of course. We have mods that can review and analyze whether or not the trade is worthwhile, and some factors could be outside sources from the trade - such as the potential reliability of the person making the trade. If you try to trade a first round pick 7 seasons from now, and you're brand new, mods have to weigh in whether the value of that pick will still be there for the receiving and trading team to determine if it's suitable, regardless of the long-term commitment from the active team on the site.
If you have any questions, please let me know and I will add them here if they are helpful to others.
