I like the idea of expansion teams. We're here to have fun and that just seems like it would be fun. Would probably get us a little more trade activity and such in the later seasons too, cause you might want to trade players for picks instead of losing them for nothing, or make expansion draft consideration type deals.
Probably shouldn't do as much expansion as the real NHL but bringing in a new team every three or four seasons would spice things up.

Might be difficult to run but it’d be kinda fun to run a type of rule 5 draft in the off-season - each team can protect like 23-25 players and then other teams can claim unprotected players from around the league, but have to leave them on an active line. Something like that. Make it possible to pass on those picks too

I like it but I also don't like it.
I like it because it stops or prevents people from making major errors that they'll regret. I don't like it because if I trade a 1st and want another guy but I don't have any 1sts until 4 drafts away I don't want to be stuck having to wait until I have that pick available again.
Not to mention, it gives rebuilding teams the opportunity to build farther for the future as well, not just two seasons away. That way if a pick in a trade doesn't pan out they'd have another pick another season or two away that they can look forward to.

Got upset that his team was shit and then quit the site and now that team is destroyed until this era is done.

If he was going to quit, he was going to quit. And the active people have another team to get easy wins over to boost their chances of making playoffs etc. And if the trades were fair, the ebb and flow of things will balance out over time anyway, so I still don't see the problem. At least not a problem worth handcuffing trades on active members who are more interested in, for example, Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour, than they are Patrice Bergeron and Evgeni Malkin.

Fair enough for me. I agree with you just saying I understand why some guys would want it.
