Game Summary:
With 4 minutes left in the first, the Ducks had already scored their game-winning goal. The Habs got it close with a late first and an early second, but penalty trouble kept the game out of reach for them, scoring some stick infractions and some rough stuff after the whistle. Habs tried to bully their way through it to set a tone, but a dead third period (shots were 3-2 for Habs) really sunk the game into a boring mess by the end. Final shots: 24-18 for Ducks. Lindros with first star with his 3 assists for the night.

Game Summary:
Habs came out of the gate with the first marker, a short-handed goal because Montreal can't stay out of the box. A pair of Ducks goals, started by Getzlaf, eventually led to Anaheim pushing a 3-1 lead a few minutes into the second period. After two plays set up by Holik, the Habs had it tied early in the third. From there, it was a sprint. 2 markers by Ducks, Habs draw within one, then Poti pulled away and Friesen scored a late marker.
But the true tale of this game is how the rough stuff in Game 1 boiled over in Game 2. Niinimaa and Getzlaf dropped the gloves in the second period, and Corvo and Perry dropped them in the third. Shots were 32-28 for the Ducks. Both teams were flawless on their PK. Recchi's 3 point night took first honors, with Yzerman's 2 goals earning 2nd star.

The game was tied after the first 3-3, but the Ducks struck first and added an insurance marker from the work of Perry and Getzlaf. Then Kronwall came alive with back to back goals, including a powerplay blast from the point to tie it at 5. Thirty seconds later and Scott Niedrmayer stepped into two shots to go up a pair, then Leetch added 2 assists and a goal for good measure to double up the Habs 5-0 and put them 1 win away from the cup. Can Montreal push back? Time is running out.

Game Summary:
Signs of Life! Even down 3-2 after 2 periods, Montreal didn't give up hope. Then down 4-2, then Hudler drew it within 1, and Leclair, less than 2 minutes later, put the Ducks up 5-3.
That should've been the end of it. The Ducks should've been celebrating their championship, but Federov had different plants. A goal, then Holmstrom struck to even it up. Back out came Fedorov, the go ahead goal. Then his next shift, an assist to feed Holik for another. Then in the final four minutes, after a period of rough stuff, Federov sets up St. Louis for one last marker to end the game 9-5, going 2/3 on the PP. Shots were 31-24 for the Habs. Fedorov takes first star with his 2G 2A effort to keep the Montreal Canadiens cup hopes alive!

Game Summary:
This one had a bit of everything to it. Habs went 3/6 on the PP, 38 total penalty minutes. A first period fight between McDonald and Niedermayer. The first period was the Mark Recchi show, with Fedorov right behind him. The second period Fedorov assisted on another powerplay goal. The game was all notched up 5-5 heading to the third.
Montreal struck first. Niinimaa, another big time goal from the unexpected dark horse for the Habs. A few minutes later, and LeClair buries a feed from Perry and Getzlaf, then an untimely hooking penalty by Holik leads to Linden burying a powerplay marker from Naslund. Ducks up by 1. Then Steve Yzerman takes a bad interference penalty of his own, and Niiniima feeds St. Louis to even the game at 7. It looked like the game was heading to overtime, but then the former Canuck-pair struck again. Linden to Yashin to Naslund, tic-tac-toe, and the Ducks went up 8-7. The Habs pummeled the Ducks with shots, but could not squeeze anymore pucks through. The Ducks held on despite being greatly outshot (33-20). Recchi took first star, Fedorov second star, and the Cinderella story came to a close.
The Ducks handed off the Stanley Cup to Steve Yzerman first to skate his Cup win. He was joined by Jan Hrdina, Keith Primeau, and Brian Leetch for their retirement run for the cup.
