What happens if that pick is top 3? Does he just not get it or is there other compensation?
Also weird to protect what right now would be the third pick of the four

Accepted. Thank you Malkin. Sorry to send you to that dumpster fire in Toronto, but the offer was too good.

Also weird to protect what right now would be the third pick of the four It would be incredibly unlikely if it was a top 3 pick, but yes, protected from a previous trade, and the compensation will be the exact compensation paid by Kings in that unlikely (nearly impossible) event.

Theres a very good chance there wont a be 90 player in return here, idk it seems like it looks a lot better on paper before those selections

You're putting an awful lot of faith in my team's ability to make the playoffs lmao especially after doing a forward upgrade and dumping my number 2 D.

purely hypothetically, if the picks stay in the same position they are now, and so does the draft order (from CHL S13 draft), you're looking at:
Brad Marchand Jordan Staal Milan Lucic Jeff Petry
That said, theres four sorta average goalies in there and they usually go lower than they're ranked, so probably more like:
Brad Marchand Jamie McBain Nick Foligno Micheal Frolik

You are also forgetting that the Hall of Famer David Clarkson will also be in this draft!

This is stupid.
That is all I will say about this trade.

I think the vast majority of us think this is a bad deal for Wings. It’s one of the best players for a 2nd and 3rd line guy and a bunch of maybes.

I might be the weird one but I think it's a bad deal for the Leafs. The fact that Malkin is worth 4 1sts plus a solid forward and a good defenseman feels like an overpay to me. That Leafs pick will be in the lottery for sure, and while yes the other three will be lower in the draft, they could also be flipped for a solid player or a top-8 draft pick. I think the Wings came out on top with this one.

I look forward to the deal that is better than this one.
