Since people were wanting to make trades with GM-less teams, and since we have had nothing but problems in the past with No-GM trades, we have decides to allow a select few individuals to take on a second team. If additional new members sign up, in all likelihood, these teams will be made available to new members, unless we, as a league, decide to bring in expansion teams.
In the interest of full disclosure, the PM anyone offered a second team received (and agreed to) looked like this:
"Hello dedicated N90/sim site member!
After very carefully reviewing all of the options for dealing with No-GM teams over the past month (mostly off-site, but also through all of the on-site discussions and feedback), we think the best course of action is to go a slightly different route. What we want to do is give 4 hand-picked members the option to make a second account, take an empty team, and run 2 teams. If you are receiving this message, you are one of the 4 teams we were hoping would be interested in running a second team. There will be some caveats:
1) In the unlikely event we get additional members, it's possible your second team will be made available to them. The available teams list will include your second team, listed as available, but currently run by you, basically.
2) You cannot directly trade between your 2 teams. If you can work out a good, fair 3-way deal with another GM that makes 3-way-deal sense, that is fine. Generally, though, I would not recommend taking a team just to move a specific player to your main team - this will likely be more work than letting another GM take the team and working out a proper deal with them.
3) You'll need to create a completely separate account for the new team. Justin doesn't want to deal with "Rangers/Flyers" accounts and stuff like that. One team per username.
That pretty much covers it. Please let me know what you think, or reply with any questions, comments, or concerns. or hate. I get a lot of hate.
Thanks for your time, and keep up the good work!"
Part of me wants to leave it up to the new GMs as to whether they want to reveal who they are, and part of me is all about full disclosure. Philosophically, I think people negotiate better when they do not have preconcieved notions about who someone is (i.e. in the past, Kruze has negotiated with me WAY differently when he did not know he was negotiating with me, vs. any time he knows who I am).
For now, I will say the following people were offered a second team. If they want to let you know who they are, they can. If not, well...we'll see what we feel like doing. I don't think it really matters one way or another. Anyways, there were the people offered a second team:
- sandman
- sensrule19
- cranker8989
- joubran13
- austinh
- therealbk
Now every pick will be made by a human, and every trade can be considered by a person who is handing that team. Problems solved. Now, I look forward to days of complaining about this resolution
