Alright. Let me explain from NYR/MTL perspective - I'd make this deal 100% of the time on both ends.
Curtis Joseph 91 G 5 YR Radek Dvorak 83 F 10 YR
for
Ryan Miller 89 G N/A YR 2009 2nd
Miller is a really good goalie until the end of the site. He's a very good controllable piece - so even though Joseph is rated higher, his lack of years makes him less valuable to me personally than Miller. Hence, the swap of Dvorak for a second offsets that difference.
Team perspective, the Rangers are looking to contend well now, so the addition of Joseph without giving up a 1st would be a good addition, especially adding in a solid depth forward. For the Habs, I'd rather have Miller than the two because of the longevity that Miller provides with all of the Canadiens long-term players creates a VERY solid core to supplement off of repeatedly.
Also, I think Ryan Miller would've rocked the Canadiens jersey.

Montreal is making out like a bandit in this deal. possibly, I guess it depends on how you value the 5YRs. This trade is basically 94F for 87F & 85F and 91G for 87G & 84G The first being protected and likely to be bottom 10 has about as much value as the 3 2nds (maybe a tad more but it is negligible) so to me it comes down to does the fact the stars are only 5 years remaining justify this downgrade? I wont put my two cents on that here since that isn't my job but I wanted to break it down since it before I did it REALLY looked like a bad trade (I didn't even notice that Theodore was an 87 for a second lol).
