Ducks were in it until about the end of the second, then there was a collapse, Robitaille put the Pens ahead by 2 and the Ducks couldn't close the gap. Pitkanen with a buzzer beater and Foote's short-handed goal were just salt in the wound at that point. Ducks were also held to 0 shots in the final frame. Very impressive defensive play by Pittsburgh.

Game Summary:
You would think I accidentally copied and pasted this game, but they are actually the same score. Pens outshot the Ducks 21-9 in the first period, trampled them, and just kept going. Ducks had some answers, but it's clear their depth can't compete in this round. Pens don't even have a specific player standing out, just multiple 2 point effort from top to bottom on their team. It's the 3rd and 4th line battles the Ducks are losing so far. We'll see what happens when we swing over to Ducks home ice for Game 3.

Game Summary:
Ducks have no answer. Not a single answer. Hasek has allowed 7 goals all series so far, Ducks allowed 7 goals in the first game. Anaheim at least broke the shutout in the final 8 minutes of the game, but this was another dominated and controlled affair by the President Trophy winners. 9 Pens players registered 1 or 2 points. This could be over very quick. Like ripping off a band-aid. This may be the most dominant team in NHL90 history.

Game Summary:
The sweep would not be completed! Ducks finally struck on the series, and gave the Pens their first loss in the entire S14 playoffs. Getzlaf sniped a quick one, and the Ducks fell 2-1 shortly there after, but this time they battled back! 2 goals to start the second period, and the Pens came back harder with 3 and up a goal. The Ducks did not deviate from the plan and crashed through the gates in the third with 3 unanswered goals to take a game in this series and not be completely embarrassed. Kariya's 3 point night took first star of the game.

Game Summary:
I was sure that the last game was going to be a "one and done" situation, the Ducks could tip their hat and then ride off into the sunset, but no. There's a lot of fight left in them and the series momentum has definitely shifted. Pens open the scoring, but Sullivan's pair of goals quickly had the Ducks back in it and up a goal. Then they got into some penalty trouble, but Lupul broke out for a shorthanded goal.
The second period had a ton of action. Pens going 4 goals with a Ducks counter, then Ducks scoring 2 more and the Pens with the last laugh in the frame. At that point, back and forth, the game is knotted up at 6 apiece. To the third we go, and Hasek trips down Chris Kunitz. Kunitz then coincidentally scores the go ahead goal on the powerplay. Derek Morris ties it up about a minute later, but a late rush by Sullivan earned himself a hat trick and the game winner, and we are heading back to Anaheim for Game 6!

Game Summary:
How have I not made a bird pun at all for these Cup finals?! Anyways, I wondered if the Ducks could complete a miracle, but the Pens are just too good. Sure, they had a few chances to close the door, but they didn't let it get away from them. Ducks still had a nice effort with a 4 goal game, but this one was far out of reach by the time we hit the second period and the Ducks were up 6-2. They didn't look back. It's fitting that Damphousse gets the final goal of the series, given that he's now retiring, and the Ducks can certainly hang their hat on a 4-2 Cup Finals series, considering they were battling an undefeated President Trophy team.
But this Pens team was built different, had a ton of fire power behind it, and Hasek, again, gets the job done. Adam Foote's three point night gets first start and the Penguins have slid their way into the 2-time Stanley Cup Champion category!
