So basically 4 90+ overall players for a series of picks that all but assure flyers will never get anything near the value of any of the players he’s trading in return?

Considering player ages, I think if Sabres added in their 2003 1st and took out the protection clauses that this would be more fair.
Difference between trade and the Leafs trade is that the players are older (you got Lidstrom for 11 years, they get Messier for 2).

I agree with you, the protections on the picks were really unsettling for me too, but still 4 firsts, a 2nd, and two 85s doesn't feel like 4 90s, especially when three have 5+ YR

I think a bigger difference with those two trades is the fact leafs we’re getting better players with more YR, he got a 94 with 11 YR, I think we’ve seen 94 guys fetch a few 90s. And the fact Buffalo has been a bottom 3 team for the last little bit it.
All good either way, but thought Philly couldn’t back out unless it was fully rejected, not sure the process here thougg

I think we’ve also gone a little rejection hungry. I thought any deal between two vets were automatically accepted? That’s been the case for this entire league. Otherwise my Lemieux/Jagr trade should’ve been 100% rejected lmao
