Game Summary:
This game was INTENSE. Pens opened the first period up 2-1, but unable to capitalize on 3 straight Leafs penalties. They survived a 12-6 shot deficit and headed into the second. Another 12-6 shot period had the Leafs up 2 goals, and the Pens taking a pair of minors with Corson and Lemieux trying to mix things up and impose the Pens will. In the third period, the Pens finally got their special teams going, scoring early, then adding an insurance marker from a point blast by MacInnis. Then they got into their own penalty trouble. Leafs came back with two goals, up 1 and tryinb to burn out the clock. Pens had a 13 shot third period to really put some pressure on. That's when Claude Lemieux got under Gilmour's skin and drew a roughing call. Queue Lemieux and Bondra feeding Foote to tie it up and force overtime. It was a skater's period, shots were just 2-1 for the Leafs, but Chelios took an ill-timed high-sticking penalty, and Forsberg became the game's hero with exactly 1 second left in the penalty. The Leafs advance to the finals to take on the defending champion Blues. Brian Leetch's 3 point night takes first star.
