Game Summary:
First period is a back and forth affair with the Whalers getting the better of the Leafs, despite being on the penalty kill for 4 minutes. Winning the second period is really where they found their second gear. Brad Boyes has been a constant clutch performer for the Whalers this post-season and tonight is no exception. His three point night matched Lindros to force game seven and see if they can carry that momentum through to finish off a Toronto team that stole their division win with a late season push.

Game Summary:
Never Say Die. This was a high scoring, high flying and violent game. The Avalanche did everything they could to tie or win each period, taking each 20 minutes as an individual war. And it was a war on ice. Tripping, holding, high sticking, roughing, interference hits, late hits, hack and whack, punch and shove, these two teams are battling each other hard. The Blues had exactly 12 shots in each period, but the Avalanche broke through with 26 shots through the final 40 minutes. Both teams went 1/5 on the powerplay, but it's the Avs edging it out in the end to win their third straight game and force game 7. Patrik Stefan's spectacular 3G 2A night earns him top honors.

Good teams always find a way to win. The Kings came out with the right speed and tenacity early going up 2-0, but that's all they could muster. Selanne and Smolinski picked them apart for the rest of the game, limited the Kings to 24 shots on goal, and shut down any third period heroics. Verbeek's 3 point night gets first star, and the Hawks are the second team to advance to the Final 4.
