Game Summary:
Bondra opened the scoring on the powerplay, and the Pens hammered the Devils in the first period 18-8 in shots. Then Sanderson scored on a PP equalizer, and Nedved pushed the Devils ahead by one. From there, the Devils seemed to try weathering a storm but couldn't generate anything offensive for themselves. The third period was such a trap game that the total shots in the third were 2-1 for the Devils. That isn't a typo. Final shots were 29-15 for the Pens. Bondra gets top honors for his 3 point night and the Devils head into Pittsbugh on the brink of elimination.

SERIES TIED 2-2
Game Summary:
It wasn't the offensive output we've come to expect in this series but the Leafs still managed to bury 5. The difference is the defensive side of the game. The Leafs edged out the Whalers 16-13 in shots in the game. A low shooting, high hitting neutral zone contested game. Toronto buried their chances early in the first, and the Whalers only found the back of the net with a shorthanded goal by Boyes. This series now shrinks to a best of 3 heading back to Toronto. Igor Larionov was named first star for his 2 goal performance.

LEADS SERIES 3-1
Game Summary:
The Avs weren't about to go away quietly. They finally delivered with their strong defensive performance, burying 4 goals in the first 2:10 of the game! Then everything shut down for 40 straight minutes. The third period had the Blues storming back, a powerplay goal on a Mike Rathje roughing penalty gave the Blues life, and LeClair tied it up with just 12 seconds left. Then, the nail biting began. The Avs took 2 more penalties in overtime, but managed to kill both off. Just when it looked like we were headed to double overtime, Klee sends a bomb-pass up the ice to find Nilson for a breakaway and he scores to keep the Avs playoff hopes alive! The series heads back to St. Louis for game 5.
