Game Summary:

The Penguins finally broke through. That first period onslaught did not let up, and then the Pens shut the game down defensively to close out any threats. Roy turned away 9 of the 10 shots he faced in the game, that's how much the Pens created a dead puck in this one - Pens outshot the Devils 12-6 in the final 40 minutes. But here's the kicker - all of the Pens goals came in the first 8 minutes of the game, and then Kravchuk got pissed off and kicked Claude Lemieux. Kicked him! Got himself a nice 5 minute major and kicked from the game. Pens didn't bother trying to capitalize on it. They just burned down the clock. Ribeiro earns the first star with his 2 point night.

This was the game Hartford fans were ready for. 5 goals in the first period, and despite the Leafs getting 3 back in the third, they ran out of energy for the third. Biggest difference maker - Whalers cashed in on 2 of their 4 PP opportunities, but shut the Leafs down on the special teams. Top line of Alfie, Lindros and Sundin contributed a combined 6 points to take the series lead.

Game Summary:

This is the first time Colorado was moderately embarassed so far these playoffs. St. Louis had full control of this one, and managed to complete a full 60 minute effort by limiting Colorado to just 2 shots on net in the third. There would be no comeback party this time. Rod Brind'Amour's hat trick was the story of the game, and Snow shut the door for anything that came near him. Avs are on the brink of elimination heading into Game 4.

Game Summary:

The Hawks finally solved the Kings. A solid rebound for the latter half of the first period had the Hawks up by 1 and momentum driving them forward. They carried it into the second period with a solid 4 point night for Smolinski. The Kings pressed back in the third but not enough to make it interesting. This was a Chicago game through and through, outshooting the Kings 27 to 17.
