Game Summary:

The Devils continue to be a challenge with a well-balanced roster. The Penguins got the upper hand in the first period, kept it even trading goals with the Devils in the second, but managed to stay a step ahead in the third to even up the series. The biggest difference in this game was the 22-7 shot output for the Pens in the middle frame. Mike Vernon stood on his head, but it wasn't enough to get the job done. Ferraro ended the night with 3 points for the first star of the game.

Game Summary:

This is the barn-burner we expected after Game 1, and both teams did not disappoint! The Whalers thought they had it in the bag going into the third period with a 6-3 lead, but a 5 goal effort for the Leafs in the final frame, including a late tying goal by Beauchemin, forced some overtime action. A poor neutral zone pass had Alfredsson stripping the puck, rushing alone and scoring the series tying overtime goal. A few big performances in this game. Gilmour's 5 point night, a hat trick by Jason Arnott, and a 2 goal (including game winner) clutch performance by Alfredsson sends it even into Hartford for Game 3.

Game Summary:

If you read into the results as "Blues win again" you're missing the full tale of these games. Colorado is quite possibly one of the most incredible defensive teams in the league. It's why they are such a challenge against offensive forces like the Flames and Blues. St. Louis escaped overtime with a last minute heroic effort from Brian Gionta, but the Avalanche were storming back, down 5-1, with 4 unanswered goals and thinking they were on the verge of overtime. I should also mention that Colorado has capitalized on their chances despite being outshot 40-19. You read that right. Gionta and Oates combined for 6 points. The Avs continue their team effort with goals coming from every line.

This is not what the Hawks were expecting with home ice advantage. Down 2 games to none, heading to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4, and an overtime loss after coming back down 2 goals; it's a tough pill to swallow. Hawks outshot the Kings 21-10 in the opening frame, and 50-31 overall in the game. Dwayne Roloson stood on his head to earn his 0.920SV% and first star honors.
