WINS SERIES 4-1
Game Summary:
This game could have gone either way. An exciting 2-2 period with both teams exchanging the lead had a great hack and whack start. When the Capitals went up 4-2 at the start of the second, it looked like the game was ready to make a big shift, but then the Leafs spun the Caps on their heels, with 4 goals in 2:08. And it all fell apart for the Capitals when Steve Konowalchuk was ejected from the game for his cross-checking major on Brendan Shanahan. A 5 minute major opened the door, and the Leafs did not let up. Lidstrom, Jagr, McCabe and Yzerman all made them pay. As much as the Capitals kept it close, that major was the final nail in the coffin. It was too big of a hole to dig themselves of, both in goals and in morale. Forsberg, Gilmour and McCabe finished the night with a collective 12 points, but it was Jagr that took first star with his hat trick performance. Hull and Guerin were still a force for the Capitals, but it's the Leafs advancing to round 2.

LEADS SERIES 3-2
Game Summary:
The Flyers stay alive with another nail biter. The game was decided in the final 20 minutes with the Flyers going up 2 and then offsetting everything the Devils threw at them until the final buzzer sounded. Flyers outshot the Devils 38-33, slightly edging them in shots and in goals. Messier walked away with first star with his 2 goal performance, and the series continues on it's dramatic way into Game 6.

Game Summary:
It is with certainty that I can say the Flames were not looking for this kind of a post-season performance. They were a strong team in the regular season, and somehow the lowly misfit Avalanche rolled right through them. Primeau continued to be a bright spot for Calgary, but that's about as much as you can write home about. Wellwood's 3 apples lead the team in scoring, everyone else chipped in and the impressive performance of Jamie McLennan continues. Colorado is our true Cinderella story this post-season.

WINS SERIES 4-1
Game Summary:
Well, I did predict 7 goals for the Ducks, but I didn't predict 9 by the Kings. After a 3-1 first period for the Kings, and a 4-2 second period for the ducks, the game was 5-5 heading to the third, but the Kings just kept going. 16 Goals were scored in this game. Shots were 35-29 for the ducks. Save percentages should be ignored to save both goaltenders some dignity. Kariya and Smyth's combined 6 point night was largely overshadowed by Simon Gagne's 3 goals and 2 assist performance. Kings advance and they are riding a wave with their 4 game win streak to close out the series.
