Game Summary:

This was a tight game with both teams exchanging goals back and forth to the third period. But that was when the Penguins hunkered down, focused on their offense, and buried their chances on the PP when Hartnell and Brunette got a bit too aggressive for the Habs. Claude Lemieux ran wild in this game, with 7 shots, 2 goals and 4 points on the night. The Habs need to find a way to shutdown Stevens and Lemieux or they are going to be in a hole that will be very difficult to dig themselves out of.

Back and forth we go to a 3-3 deadlock. Shots were 34-27 for the Flyers after regulation. Despite both teams earning penalties in overtime, the Flyers couldn't capitalize, and it's Patrick scoring a shorthanded goal - one of the most unexpected players to earn the win that puts the Devils up 2-0. Joe Nieuweyndyk's first star, 3 point performance was shadowed by the Devils resilience.

Blues outshot Minnesota 21 to 5 in the first period. Wild outshot the Blues 10-7 for the final 40. There just isn't enough of a pushback from the Wild to even remotely frustrated the Blues. Instead, the Blues defense just shuts the game down as soon as it starts moving up the ice. Garth Snow got first star for his shutout, but this was a team effort defensive clinic for the blues.
