Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks like this
Post by Bob McKenzie on Jul 21, 2021 11:46:39 GMT -5
After reviewing all the awards, and us now in award season for season 11, I decided to take a deep dive at some notable events from the first 10 Seasons of NHL90.
BEST OF THE BEST
There's no doubt about it now. The St. Louis Blues are about as close as it gets to a dynasty. They are our only 2-time Stanley Cup winners. They also won the President's Trophy twice, and have made the Stanley Cup Finals in 5 of our 11 seasons.
The New York Islanders are next in that list of the elite. Laughable for the first few seasons, they acquired Mike Richter in a trade that ridiculed one of the site admins, and then followed that up with a Stanley Cup, 3 President Trophy wins, 3 Hart Trophies in the past 4 seasons, 3 Art ross trophies, 3 Rocket Richard trophies, and 3 Vezinas for Mike "Piece of Shit" Richter.
AWARD LEADERS
1 Pens and Islanders are tied for 3 President Trophies Each.
2 Buffalo and Quebec have 2 Prince of Wales Trophies Each.
3 Chicago and Toronto follow up the Blues for most Clarence Campbell wins with 2 apiece.
4 Buffalo is the only team with multiple Conn Smythe winners (Mogilny and Andreychuk).
5 Bill Guerin is the only player to win the Hart Trophy and the Art Ross Trophy twice.
6 Winnipeg has 3 Ted Lindsay Winners (Ron Francis, Teemu Selanne, and Wayne Gretzky).
7 The Islanders have won the Rocket Richard trophy with 3 separate players (Pat LaFontaine, Bob Sweeney, Bill Guerin).
8 The Bruins have won the Norris Trophy 4 times. Bourque has 3 of them. No other player has won more than once.
9 Islanders and Blues have won the Vezina a combined 5 times. Richter has won the trophy 3 of the past 4 seasons. Somehow Glenn Healy won the award, which was previously ruined by Garth Snow also winning the honors. Brodeur is the only other goaltender to win it twice.
10 The Leafs and Habs have each won a Calder Trophy twice. Habs (Savard/Antropov) and Leafs (Thornton/Havlat).
11 The Chicago Blackhawks have won 3 straight Selke trophies with 3 different players (Courtnall, Satan and Daze).
12 The Lady Byng trophy has been won by 10 different players on 10 different teams to date.
13 No team has won the Jack Adams award more than once.
14 The Oilers have the most King Clancy winners (Rod Langway, Brian Trottier, and Gary Leeman) followed by Chicago (Dino Ciccarelli and Geoff Courtnall).
15 The Oilers have 4 Bill Masterton trophy winners (Larry Robinson, Tim Kerr, Peter Stastny, and Jari Kurri). The Leafs have 2 (Glenn Anderson and Wendel Clark).
16 Pittsburgh, Chicago New York Islanders and the St. Louis Blues all have 2 William M Jennings wins, for a total of 8 out of our 11 seasons. Grant Fuhr won the award 3 years in a row.
XX - Hoofhearted - XX and XX - Former Blackhawks - XX have won the most awards of our retired members on the site.
