Philly opened the scoring, and then completely fell apart. Snow stood on his head for the first period to keep the game tight, and the Blues gradually skated away. The biggest lack in this game for the Flyers was their physicality. Typically Roenick, Messier and Nieuwendyk are in the mix, but the Blues kept them quiet and off the scoreboard. Kirk Muller's 2 goal game earns him first star to take Game 1.

LEADS 2-0
Once again, Philly opened the scoring, and things seemed to be relatively in hand until the latter half of the second period with Modano and LeClair pushed the Blues up a pair of goals. Khristich got the Flyers within 1 near the end of the third, but Oates' insurance marker sealed the deal. For the 2nd straight game, Roenick/Messier/Amonte were almost nonexistent. The Flyers were not physical and the Blues held them to just 18 shots in the game. A move back to Philly hopefully will give them some motivation to step it up. Almost in a do or die situation by Game 3.

LEADS 3-0
This entire game was settled after 20 minutes. The Blues defensive game is pretty spectacular, sucking all the wind out of their opponent's offense. At the opening puck drop, Paul Coffey tried sparking his team with some rough stuff but couldn't find a partner to engage, and the Blues basically laughed it off. If you don't believe me, try this on for size - the Blues limited the Flyers to just 12 total shots on net in this game. That is the lowest I've ever seen. If Philly doesn't find a way to break through, this series could be a sweep, and not in any real challenging way. Conroy and Antropov take 1st and 2nd star for their combined 4 point night.

WINS SERIES 4-0
Finally some life! But not enough to hold off the onslaught. Turns out when you play the game more wide open with the Blues, they will just skate right back at you. This game had some nice rhythm going to it to a 3-3 point, until the floodgates opened and Khabibulin couldn't do anything to hold it off. Coffey was back in the mix, punching his way into the game, and Philly finally hit 30 shits in a game this series, sending them in for 4 goals. But Messier, Roenick and Nieuwendyk were completely shut out of the game. Queue Recchi's 2 goal night, Brind'Amour's 3 point performance, Muller's 3 apples, and LeClair's 2 goals to secure the Stanley Cup victory for the 2nd time in NHL90 history for the St. Louis Blues!
