WIN SERIES 4-1

Malone, Hartnell and Koivu combined for 7 points this game, but it came up just short against the Flyers depth. In the final minutes of the game, Messier buried the game winner to take the wind out of the Habs sails, as the Flyers advance to the Conference Finals, I believe, for the first time ever? Dallas Drake's mid-third penalty helped the Flyers even it up with the powerplay before taking it home.

It would not be the Pens year, with the Capitals needing to bury 10 to finally put Pittsburgh away in these playoffs. Perennial regular season dominant middle six forward, Bob Sweeney, was lights out in this game, scoring 5 goals and adding a helper for a ballistic 6 point night. Robitaile, Lemieux and Lemieux were nearly held off the scoreboard and that solidified the victory for the Capitals. They will take on the Flyers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Kings had no answer, despite outshooting the Hawks 15-9 in period 1. The final shots in this game were 32-23 for Chicago, and Satan took home 2nd star for the game winner, while Vokoun walked away with a shutout and first star of the game.
