How Good was Wayne Gretzky?

Since he just retired here on NHL90, I came across this image and wanted to share it, because it's insane. And if you count just the "respectful" point totals against each team and said "that is a star player getting that many points that year" you'd have like 26 seasons of PPG production Crazy.

Mario was the best player to ever play the game!!! Mike Bossy was the best pure goal scorer to ever play the game!!! Gretzky played in the worst Division in NHL history and league protected him. If they had protected Mario in the same way he would of put up 300pt seasons. Until Mario came back out of retirement his Points per game average was higher than Gretzky's

Plus those things where Mario had cancer and got his wrist shattered by a slash. Dude still came back and dominated.

My appreciation for Mario has grown a great deal over the past 5 years or so.
