Rod Brind'Amour has entered the game. A goal and 3 assists was certainly a statement to make to try and push him team to the series lead. Unfortunately for Rod and his Blues, every single Blackhawks player on the top three lines registered a point, showing just how much character and secondary scoring the Blackhawks have in their arsenal. Kevin Dineen was a bright spot with 3 apples on the night, and Mike Ricci's powerplay marker midway through the third proved the difference maker. Muller was clearly disappointed in the holding call, as he breaks his stick in the penalty box after the game winning goal was scored.

Game 3 for the Penguins and Islanders was a toe to toe battle from the puck drop. A Chelios blast opened the scoring, which woke up the Islanders as they buried 3 unanswered goals in retaliation. Whatever was said in the dressing room between periods, it brought the Pens top line out with arguably their best period of the playoffs, scoring two important goals to help even the game heading into the third. Pittsburgh outshot the Islanders 10-5 in the final frame, with Mario as the game's hero once again to tip the scales and grab a 2-1 series lead.
