S2: Played with Klima 89pts in 80 games and Makarov 84 points in 80 games. S3: Played with Makarov 97pts in 80 games and Klima 95pts in 80 games. S4: Played with Ferraro 91pts in 80 games and Demitra 64pts in 80 games. S5: Played with Elias 94pts in 80 games and Sullivan 92pts in 80 games. S6: Played with Makarov 52pts in 62 games and Roenick 51pts in 62 games. Biggest changes you made is you dumped all your good D because "we are going to outscore all of our problems." Maybe that wasn't a good idea? Season 1 to 3 - had Lidstrom, Yzerman is a positive player with near 100pts/season. Season 4 and 6 - Lidstrom traded away. Yzerman goes -25 and -36 and is below a point per game. Season 5 - had Lidstrom, Yzerman is a +15 with near 100pts. So, yeah, chemistry and team makeup seem to be playing a factor just from an overview standpoint. |

Did a deeper dive on Nik Lidstrom as well: Nik LidstromS1: - 86PTS -2 S2: - 73PTS -12 S3: - 73PTS EVEN S4: - 77PTS +32 S5: 86PTS +1 S6: 64PTS +29 So on the Wings team, he provides more stability to the back end and Yzerman performs better. But on a team with better defensive depth (Flames with Murphy, Leafs with MacInnis) he his offensive production remains about the game, but with subsantially improved +/- So yes. Chemistry and team makeup. |
