Alright, just getting this out of the way now so people are aware.
I fucked up in the draft. Giguere came in, I gave out prospect ranges, Giguere was boosted, a team with a higher pick lost out on a number one goaltender and it wasn't fair and had to be rectified.
And here is what we did to fix it:
Kings Get Dwayne Roloson
He was expected to come in next season at an 87 overall, but given that I brought in Giguere, scouting him at an 86-87 for most folks, and then dropping him as an 87 and boosting to an 89, Dwayne Roloson will be an 88 and will be a constant reminder of my awful, horrendous, no good, terrible, very bad deed.
Dwayne Roloson 88 G 17 YR
The Kings were also offered any existing free agent, and receive Shawn Bates 80 F 13 YR along with Roloson in this "trade" with the league. This will also off-set the value of losing out on an 89 goaltender.
Please Note: In Era 2, Roloson will come into the league following Season 6 in the Season 6 draft, and will be an 87, as initially intended.
The Trickle Down
As such, if Giguere was taken, then Langkow would have been available, and so on and so on.
The Kings are trading back to the "league" Daymond Langkow 85 F who will be put into Free Agency, and any bid on him will fall into a separate criteria for potential winners that includes:
- quality of bid
- where that team had a pick in the draft
- final standings
The reason we are taking into consideration "where that team had a pick in the draft" is that teams paid for said picks, they had a specific value, and that value was diminished slightly by the process we underwent in the draft.
Too Long Didn't Read
Kings get a goaltender that comes into the league 1 season earlier as their primary scouting was on a goaltender that I undershot on the official rating post-draft.
Kings trade Langkow to the league, he enters free agency for all other 20 teams to competitively bid on, along with the trickle down auctions from whoever wins said player with another valuable player.
Mike wears his shame forever.
