So, I heard this cool thing, it's basically the "if you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?" But this one was picking 5 people from any time to have a cocktail party with.
So, I'm curious, who would you love to have at your cocktail party.
You. 5 Guests - alive or dead.
And how do you think it would go?

First of all, guys, I don't need to know who makes you want to touch your penis. Please. Stop.
I think I have a few I'd love to be a part of.
Fred Rogers - Mr. Rogers Ernie Coombs - Mr. Dressup Robert Lawrence Stein - Author of Goosebumps franchise Jonathan Torrens - For his time on Jonovision Linda Schuyler - Creator of Degrassi
I think a discussion of their art, their process, their collaborations for ideas revolving around children from young ages to adolescence and how that changed year after year would be fascinating to explore, along with when their shows originated and ended, what behind the scenes takes there might have been for episodes or topics they may have wanted to explore but did not or could not or even would not for whatever reason.
I think it would be interesting to know how R.L. Stein looks back at how his popularity exploded in the 90s, and what it means to be a writer in a new world where most kids read on their phones and tablets instead of physical books, and how it transcended his career, and if his focus was always on young adult horror. His relationship with scholastic, etc.
I'd love to talk with Fred Rogers about his time bathing his feet with a black man on television, a ground breaking moment for racism and equality in America, and his relationship with Mr. Dressup, who was a more tamer version of Fred Rogers and less political on specific issues, but how each raised children on both sides of the North American border. What clear differences were presented between the Canadian presentation versus American, and what challenges they may have faced in that career, when both were major television heroes and had their audience grow into their 30s and 40s by the time they retired.
What is was like to be a true after-school special that really handled serious topics in Degrassi and why this was so important for Linda Schuyler. I feel a lot of her episodes and topics today would be avoided with a ten foot poll, and despite its poor acting from basically just regular people stepping in to fill these roles, the show became both iconic and important learning processes for 80s/90s teens, to the point the show was used as a learning device in middle school.
So. Many. Things.

I would love to get Jesse Ventura in a room with Donald Trump. I don't know if I want to be there, but I want to see that. He considered running in this election as a Green candidate, but I don't think anything came of that. But man, would we all love to see THOSE debates, amiright?
