I know many of you are on Hock league, so this post is specifically for you guys. Some people said some things, and took some things some ways over there, and the result is I was banned. I am 100% cool with this, since it was made clear no effort would be made to curb harassment and bullying. Anyways, after the ban, this was my reply in thread: (forgive the spelling, I was doing a GTA Online Heist at the time)  And then this was my reply in the shoutbox:  P.S. Thank you Ottawa Senators for your support in that thread. It's appreciated. And thank you to the members here of both sites who have been civil and even supportive during these dramas. Does Kruze run that league ? Kruze and Gap ? GAP doesn't do hockey sites. Oilers/Canadians is XX - Hock League Sims - XX - he runs it (he was Hidden Dragons on ManMMA for a little bit). I forget the actual admin's name. Don't think it's someone I knew from back in the day. Canucks/Bruins is XX - Former Canadiens - XX. He quit this site when XX - Kruze - XX /Kruze was banned here. Golden Knights/Isles is Kruze Sabres/Blues is Colorado Avalanche (Canadian Bulldozers on ManMMA) Ottawa Senators is an admin there, though not part of the problem. snaggletooth is also an admin I believe. I assume you know him. |

Last little thing I forgot to mention. When I saw how upset Hock League was by our banner, I reverted it back to our Season 5 original one. I did not expect the hostility, to be honest. I mean, Call of Duty does not freak out at Fortnite for being called "Free to play" etc. Both exist, and both advertise what they offer. Neither is ashamed of, nor embarrassed by, their business models. They advertise to their strengths, and when others are charging money for their sim sites, ours being free becomes one of our strengths. It's that simple. But I digress again. The point is, in all likelihood, I'll be posting the "Free" one again very soon.

I'm just going to branch off this post a little and then get back to prepping us for Season 6.
First of all, if any of you didn't know, Hock League is going to a paid format and if your team wins, you can win money! So if you're looking for some opportunity to compete in a money league, definitely hit it up!
When we put "free to play" or whatever on the banner, as Justin said, that is a strength for us when the other site starts to charge, even a dollar fee, to participate.
But that doesn't mean that charging people is a weakness for Hock League. Quite the contrary. There are specific people we have tried to recruit over the years on our own sites, and had we had some sort of money formula, we could have enticed more people to play, but we couldn't really find a way to do that without ostracizing members who did not want to pay.
We went the ad-revenue way. It earned almost enough to pay proboards to make each sim site ad-free (10 US dollars a month at the time, not sure if that's changed).
As Justin said, the banner was misinterpreted and has been taken down. But we are free here.
I also was interested in the beginning of joining the new pay site, but there are very specific things that made it less enticing for me. Namely that the simmer controls who goes up and down in ratings, and if a player will walk in free agency, and where they will sign, and for how much money effectively controlling the cap, and there's a NMC fake clause that locks you into never being able to buy out a player (this is what led to me dropping from the site entirely), and that he is also participating with a team. I think a lot of this would be solved/alleviated once the site picks up more members and maybe I will revisit participating at that time.
I hope it goes well and does well.
For anyone that may have read past the Kruze rhetoric of "Mike and Justin are terrible people" and actually just read the questions we had, and our steering on an open discussion on HOW he could potentially do this on Twitch instead of Youtube to bypass some concerning legalities, then you might notice that we are not "going weird."
I hope Hock League continues to be successful. It was fun popping on there to have old chats about old sim sites and see how my former team was doing; however, it was not fun going on there and finding a thread where a specific member was dragging my name through the mud for about a week without any pushback at all from anyone. When I finally went there to visit, and was treated with more attacks from said member, I was told I should shut up and not defend myself.
That is specifically the harassment I was concerned about. When you are on a site that let's online bullying run rampant and re-define the narrative on who I am as a person you start to look around and go "but guys, none of this is true, and a wide majority of all of you were both on those sites and know this."
For the official record here, I have permanently banned Kruze. Justin wanted to push back on it, but as I've discussed with a few of you privately, you may know Kruze from years being on a sim site, but we know Kruze a LOT more than you do outside the site. I've hit the end of my road hoping to repair any relationship with him, and the site will unfortunately be moving forward without his participation.
I hope that if you can't understand that decision or support it, that you at least appreciate why I made my decision.
Again, that's a separate thing altogether from the simmer on hockleague and everything he has done. It's a great, in-depth site, and i hope it continues to be successful for him.

No I didn't - I explained to you (privately, so other people did not hop on a Kruze-hate bandwagon) about 10% of my side of why Kruze was removed. (Feel free to post full or part of convo publicly if you like, I have nothing to hide) Hell, for that matter I still have nothing against Kruze (other than our mutual inability to co-exist on sim sites, which we both accept) Oilers/Canadians has only been in his site and one prior so probably why you haven’t heard of him. Again, if saying we are free (when we are) is a shot at someone else, it says more about a lack of confidence in that other persons sim site model than anything. ONce again, Call of Duty does not complain that Fortnite is "Free to play". Same thing. Not to mention, we pulled that down as soon as he communicated that he was unhappy with it. You don’t like Kruze making things public but then you do basically the exact same thing to Oilers that Kruze does to you lol.; I am all for Kruze making things public. he hates when I do it. My issue is when he brings OLD shit into new shit. For example, if it would be like if I still held a grudge against Buffalo Sabres because 9 years ago he called me an asshole. Bygones be bygones and all that. but Mike just needed to take more control here and act like a leader. He did. He perma-banned Kruze. I have no ill feelings toward hockleague, still hope things are going well over there. Wish I could've been able to check out the progression as it unfolded, but I was banned, so I am taking that as "we don't want your business," I guess. As for leadership, I will not say any negative things about Kruze. I will continue the site without his presence, and I wish him nothing but the best in his life.
