Not criticizing the trade but I kind of get the “why though?”

Devils gets highest rated players in deal
Devils wins the years remaining
Devils wins the points (a guy in 80s and 70s for 70s and 50s plus a very easily acquirable backup)

I don’t really see the benefit of why Whalers would do this. Its close to being a legit trade, I think, but I don't really see how Beaupre can be the kicker. Thats my primary issue with the deal.

If I wanted Francis as badly as you claim to want Francis I would’ve easily just add another player to this trade and then said there we go are we cool? I wouldn’t be trying to hang my entire argument or a backup goaltender for the fifth best player of all time

But I guess quitting over Don Beaupre is a solution to this problem
