I'm trying to figure out who it is nuttier for lol If Oilers misses, he has the pick he guaranteed in his Ovechkin conditional pick and either gets Ovechkin, or gets his pick in 09 back regardless and then live goes on. OR he gets two 2nd round picks for an expiring contract, knowing he very likely will not win a cup right now. Ducks is trading a 1st that could be a higher pick for a run right now. He's near the top of the league and he's flexing. Or he moves two 2nd round picks, which is a substantially better value, all in the name of whether or not Oilers sucks enough to miss the playoffs. And Oilers is 1 point out of a playoff spot currently. It's kind of neat.

I originally read it as this year's pick tbh

tried to do something other than this messy, condition-filled trade, but the rental suggestion seems to have hit a black hole, so I guess accept...?
