More productive reply than my first one:
"guys like Nylander and Sydor with a year, maybe 2 left is one thing. But 6-7 YRs isn't nothing. Both from a team look, and from a no-GM team look, thats lots of time to build a winning team, or to gather another member to fill the team. Keeping 1YRs for a season without a GM doesn't make a lot of sense when Philly can unload them for something, but I wouldn't be too in favour of trades involving a lot of picks doing the heavy lifting. Not unless we are talking about deadline on the last year of a 1 YR type thing or something.
Hope that helps as a guide for future? Not trying to shit on trade attempts, trying to make intentions and motivations clearer.

Not trying to shit on trade attempts, trying to make intentions and motivations clearer. It's a fair take. It's tough trying to decide how far the rebuild should be helped along while maximizing a players value for a no gm team. Its also a main part of why i publicize the offers. If a trade is close someone else might cash in and put it over the top.

As long as we never reach "trade for the sake of a trade" territory, fine. But doing nothing with a No-GM team is always a VERY valid option. Especially sitting on 6-7 year contracts ffs. As I type that, I'm not even that comfortable with the Belfour one if I'm being honest. "this guy only has 5 years left in him, time to unload" is not something you hear a lot. Guys are still close to their prime at that point, depending on position.
