Game Summary:
Whalers did what they needed to do - they struck early. Alfredsson gave some hope, but the Blues 2 goals in less than 90 seconds put them back up. They did not trail again in the game. Campbell helped tie it up, but a 5 goal onslaught in the second period drilled it home.

Game Summary:
This game is absolutely insane. It starts with the Blues trading goals back and forth, both teams scoring Short-Handed and on the Powerplay. Blues outshot the Whalers 47-34. John LeClair's hat trick takes first honors in the game. Alfredsson and Sakic each had a 4 point night, but the Blues buried the tie-breaker with less than 90 seconds left in the game, thanks to a nice feed by Weiss to Gionta. Now to see how the Whalers handle the series heading home for Games 3 and 4.

Game Summary:
This game was extra bizarre. The Whalers open the scoring early, then they get into penalty trouble. Blues capitalize on both chances, and after a big period by Kirk Muller, they leave the first frame up 5-1. Case closed, right? Not so. Blues hit 'em with a three-piece and a soda, up 6-1, and suddenly the Whalers wake the fuck up. Michal Handzus scores. Then 18 seconds later, scores again. Suddenly, the score is cut in half. What do the Whalers do? KEEP TAKING PENALTIES. But their special teams shut it down. Whalers keep hacking, slashing, punching, bam Cammalleri scores, 6-4, then Sillinger with a steal, scores unassisted. All of a sudden, we have a game. Blues head to the room after the second period confused, frustrated, and pushed around. Shots were just 16-11 for the Blues at this point, and the game is 6-5. Not at all a goaltenders duel. Third period opens, bam, ODonnell with an assist to Graves and the game is tied. Blues try and press, but the Whalers outshoot them 14-7 in the final frame. Souray gets the lead back, Graves answers with under 5 to play. Headed to overtime. Whalers just all over the Blues 5-0 in shots in overtime, until finally Cammalleri knocks in the rebound from Holik's shot, and we have ourselves a series!

Game Summary:
Back home in St. Louis and things were mostly going right, until they weren't anymore. Whalers struck first in a hotley contested period that saw Markov and LeClair giving it back and forth. Then the Blues strike twice to open the second. Whalers return with a pair, Blues return with a pair, and the Whalers close out the period tying the game at 4. They would not go away. The Whalers strike 9 seconds in when Alfie intercepts a pass and scores on a breakaway. 10 minutes later, and LeClair earns himself a double-minor high sticking penalty when he draws blood on Markov. Sakic scores the powerplay marker with an assist to Alfredsson. Then less than a minute later, Graves with another turnover by the Blues, scores unassisted. The Whalers then hang on for dear life as the Blues outshoot them 18-6 in the third period, scraping by with the win. Whalers went 3/6 on the special teams, Blues went 0/4. The series heads back to Hartford for Game 6. Can the Blues rebound after 3 straight losses?

Game Summary:
As much as the Whalers gave it their all to win it on home ice, they were just behind the entire game. Blues game out 4-1 quickly, despite a puck over the glass penalty by Gionta that gave the Whalers some life. Then Sakic struck twice before Muller closed out the period to give the Blues a 2 goal cushion. Then, Kotalik had them doubled up 6-3 before CAmmalleri and Renberg got the game back within 1. Holik tied it early, and the Cinderella story started to march on... for 36 seconds. That's when LeClair recovered a loose puck and scored to go back up a goal. Then, it happened. Joe Sakic landed a huge elbow on Rod Brind'Amour, earning himself 5 and a game. On the 5 minute powerplay,. Modano scored to add the insurance marker. Alfredsson kept it close late, but Kotalik sealed it with under 3 to play before the Whalers could pull the goaltender. The series now swing back for Game 7 in St. Louis.

Game Summary:
Alright, this might be the weirdest game I've seen. Blues outshot the Whalers 20-3 (not a typo) in the first period. Two goals by Modano and Recchi open it up. But with 1 second left in the period, somehow, Holik scores. And you can just feel the arena take a huge exhale. A goal against with 1 second left in the period, and suddenly the Whalers, previously crushed, are alive. The second period opens, and 8 seconds in, Alfredssom scores to tie the game. 1 second left in the first, they score, 8 seconds into the second, and all that hard work in period 1 is completely erased. It's now a 2 period game for the Cup.
Midway through the second period, and Kotalik earns himself a roughing call. Bad news - Larionov strikes to give the Whalers the lead. With under two minutes left, Alfredsson puts the Whalers up 4-2. Suddenly, Hartford is riding a wave, but with under 100 seconds left in the period, Gonchar fires a blast from the point to draw the game back within a goal. Now, it's the Whalers exhaling. Hartford outshoots the Blues 12-11 in the second frame.
Third period opens, Larionov takes a hooking minor, and bam, Recchi blasts home the equalizer. All knotted up at 4-4. Ozolinsh then, on a clearing attempt, throws the puck over the glass. This heartbreaking penalty finds Sakic sniping home the go-ahead goal, 5-4. Less than a minute later, and Brind'Amour finds Muller streaking for the 5-5 tally. Midway through the third, Cammalleri is dished a long-bomb pass from Handzus, and he goes shelf to go up 6-5. Just over a minute later, and the Blues find the tying goal again, with Oates converting an Ozolinsh feed. It looked like anyone could win at any moment, next goal wins kind of game, likely heading to overtime, until Kotalik takes down his man while backchecking and heads to the box with under 4 minutes to play. The dagger. Campbell, to Markov, to Alfredsson. One-timer, 7-6, and the Whalers hold on for dear life. Blues outshoot them 12-8 in the third, but Hartford holds steady with Thomas in net to secure the Game 7 victory. And Hartford Whalers win their first ever NHL90 Stanley Cup!
