Game Summary:
17 seconds. It took 17 seconds to put the Blues on their heels. Shanahan intercepted the opening pass of the game and struck first. From there Mike Modano was pissed and got a double minor for a dangerous blood-drawing high stick. In the second period, the fourth line drew blood with MacLean scoring off the rush with Havlat. The second period saw the Leafs take three penalties, but their special teams kept the door shut. In the third, another sneaky play by Havlat found MacLean back door to go up 3-0, and the Leafs coasted with a defensive game getting outshot 18-11 for the final 40 minutes. Despite penalty trouble, the Leafs kept the door shut and Dominik Hasek took home the first star for his 30 save shutout. Hasek steals the series opener.

SERIES TIED 1-1
Game Summary:
Things were going well for Toronto until the third period. Up 2-1 in the first, a powerplay marker from Shanahan, top lines producing, and then it collapsed. Top lines perform like top lines, and that's exactly what came calling for the Blues. Despite the game having an even 34-34 in shots by the horn, it was John LeClair stepping up to be the difference maker for the Blues, contributing to two significant goals. Lidstrom's impressive 3 assists on the night wasn't enough to get it done, and Garth Snow's solid 0.912SV% pulled the series even at one apiece.

Game Summary:
Complete domination. Blues won on the scoreboard. They won on the shot clock (31-26). They won the goaltending battle. They won in the corners. Up and down the ice, this was a Blues team in full control and no answer whatsoever from the Leafs. Andreychuk, Arnott and Gilmour finished at a combined -12. Leclair (4), Brind'Amour (3) and Muller (4) took the stars of the night with a combined 10 points. If the Leafs don't wake up, this series could be heading off a cliff for Toronto fast.

SERIES TIED 2-2
Game Summary:
It looked like it was over by the time we wrapped 40 minutes. St. Louis is notorious for dulling the game down to a halt the second they get a lead. Toronto's penalty troubles in the second period, including two straight penalties by Forsberg both times he hit the ice, led to 3 PPG goals in a row by St. Louis. That should've been it. That should've been the end of the Leafs and put them on the brink, but Lidstrom wasn't ready to say die just yet. A last minute goal in the second period started off by the passing of Leetch and Lidstrom found Andreychuk getting the game back within striking distance. The third period had Lidstrom's breakout play finding Sakic and Forsberg tying it up at five. Then, in the final four minutes, Lidstrom's incredible breakaway pass to Damphousse had the Leafs up by 1. They closed it out, fought off the pulled goaltender, and tied the series up at two. Blues won the special teams and the shot count - 32-27. Lidstrom took first star, narrowingly edging out Mike Modano's efforts in the game. The series now heads back to St. Louis for a best of 3 to close it out.

Game Summary:
Special teams was the name of the game for the Leafs loss. And this was a devastating blow. Toronto went 0/6 on the powerplay. Massive win for morale and the game for the Blues. The Blues had full control of this game. Some late game heroics by Larionov was great to see, but it was a wing and a prayer in a game where Toronto was outshot 32-29 overall, but outshot 23-12 in the first 40 minutes. Garth Snow snuck a flip pass to the neutral zone, and Sergei Berezin's speed flew down the rink to score shorthanded to add insult to injury and win the game in overtime. The Blues now have a chance to close out the series in Toronto. John LeClair's hat trick takes top honors.

WINS THE S12 STANLEY CUP!
Game Summary:
Larionov took a penalty in the opening five minutes and Recchi buried it. That was the turning point of the game. The Leafs completely ran out of steam, fell apart, and the Blues trampled over them, imposing their will, and outshooting the Leafs 28-10 that's right 10 in the game. Gionta's 3 point night gets it done, but this was just a defensive clinic for the Blues. An anti-climax to a great series, but the better team inevitably took home the Silver Cup. Congratulations to the Blues. The best of the best. The question now is... was this the last dance?!
