Bure is also my favorite all time player. I thought the first deal was fair. Bure only having 3 years instead of 4 kinda sucks. I have pretty deep goaltending, It’s a spot I can afford to give up I think

That's why I'm good with the trade. Rangers trading from a position of strength and adding some major weaknesses, Ducks acquiring for a position he really doesn't need. So... I'll leave it to Edmonton OilersThoughts were shared. Traders are still in for the trade, so up to him to thumbs up or down officially. Thread locked until then.

...ffs. First, I would like to thank Mike for giving me the opportunity to be the bad guy here, especially in light of that being the first impression the new members get of me. Thanks champ! Second: Bure for 3 years vs. Lundqvist for a quarter of a century... Lundqvist might be Ducks backup goaltender, but he is not a backup goaltender. He will be one of our best goalies here for the rest of the era. The 1st goes either way. 50% chance its a huge win for Ducks, 25% chance its a slight win for Rangers. 25% chance it works out for both. The 2nd won't be as good as Val, but it will be longer. It might be as good as Hedican, and it might be longer. Or it might not be. I think in the grand scheme of things, based on the 50 other trades we have done with few-years-left players, no return has been only a 3 overall downgrade for 22 additional YRs. We have precedents for reasons, we have general standards that have become communally accepted. And while I strongly, STRONGLY oppose rejecting new-team trades right out of the gate, there are extenuating circumstances that concern me about this one. Namely that I did spent time talking to Ducks about trade value, and working out a reasonable trade with new people, since I thought the first trade was worse than this. This steps outside of my Mike-prescribed role as an arbiter of trades, but I want to throw this in for ducks, since we discussed this at length privately. Ducks. I would encourage you to continue to stay focused on the goals you outlined to me privately, and stop straying from those goals to make these strange flash-in-the-pan trades. If your goals are to win more Cups, stop trading your star players to fill holes you do not have. If you want to (REDACTED FOR PRIVACY REASONS), then concentrate on that when the time comes - you have the assets to complete those trades at the time, and do not need to gamble on them now, limiting your chances of doing the thing when the time comes. Overall, I hate rejecting shit more than any of you know, but given ALL the circumstances here (public and private), I this trade.

Colorado AvalancheTrade rejected due to misinformation: Trade originally featured 4YR of Bure, and diminished to 3YR by the time evaluation came, that one year changed the consideration and the trade was turned down.
