I sold 5 Wayne Gretzky rookie cards for $25 before I ever knew that they were worth any money. Condition would have been pretty bad. But will regret that forever How did you come to acquire 5 Gretzky rookie cards in the first place? I collected them huge as a kid and we were going to the states at a show and I thought I would bring some cards to sell or trade. At that time I had no idea the value of the cards, I was a kid still. They would have been in pretty bad shape after playing topsies with them and other card games

Did you know who Gretzky was? Did you know they were rookie cards?

yes I knew who Gretzky was, I hated him right from the start lol. Yes I knew they were rookie cards. I still have a set with Patrick Roy rookie card and Mario Lemieux 2nd year. Complete set. I still have Mike bossy Rookie Cards and Ron Francis Rookie Card and Joe Mullen Rookie card

You know what I did when I was around 6-7 years old with my hockey cards?
I created a "puck" out of paper and had a bunch of cards lined up and played "table top" hockey with them. I used the cards like action figures.
It was fun. Flicking the cards at the paper puck, scoring goals against myself. I did this on a couch.
I ruined quite a few.
No idea which ones. Who knows, might've been a rookie Gretzky or Lemieux in there.
But I had fun.
Can't get rich now.
But I had fun.

I pretended I was Dallas Drake by taking his hockey card and making it try and take a shot and fail on a puppet talk show. True story. Also I did this at 2am, shooting it randomly in the University with some creepy guy in a jacket.
Before that, we put up sign up sheets to star in a movie. We both showed up wearing our leather jackets and sat in the main traffic hallway. The sign read: "Wanted: 1 Guy and 1 Girl for Film."
We got a lot of looks. We also got about 4 times the amount of signatures when we actually walked away from the sign-up sheet.

"What would it take to get Lidstrom?" I responded.

Wow, it's as if people have more sentimental value to a player than actual value. Imagine that!
