May I ask why Greg Adams is an 81 but Jeff O'Neil is an 85? Adams played longer, had more points, had a better PPG. Adams should be around an 86-87 compared to other players.

May I ask why Greg Adams is an 81 but Jeff O'Neil is an 85? Adams played longer, had more points, had a better PPG. Adams should be around an 86-87 compared to other players. When we do ratings, we don't do specific comparable to 1 guy. We also don't do them specifically based on PPG. We have spent literally weeks going over everything from the very beginning so that ratings make sense from Year 1 to Year 25. It means we aren't perfect, but it also means that sometimes putting too much stock into a player's overall instead of just playing the guys you like, can ruin your enjoyment if you are just ratings-focused. We had 2 teams win cups with an 82 and an 84 goaltender. We had 2 other teams win cups with 90+ goaltenders. Things like that. When we build ratings, we aren't biased and out to get people, but we do have to apply some sort of "name value" along with a player's real-life performance. I got confused because I thought Adams was in this draft, but you're talking about a player that was drafted in the 80s and has now been on the site for 4 years. We also really don't like re-rating players who were traded. I really can't stress enough that the site isn't perfect. But we also are not an EA game. We are trying, we've poured a lot into it, but we also did a few things: 1. We opened the door to rating reviews when we launched. 2. We did a revision with a highly respected member last off-season. In the grand scheme of things, I don't believe anything is broken. |

This is what irritates me the most about Leaf-haters, including the media: Leafs players that could be traded: "THEY ARE WORTH NOTHING! THEY SUCK. FUCK THEM! BAG OF PUCKS!" Leaf players once traded: "THEY ARE SO GOOD. OMG LOOK HOW GOOD THEY ARE. LEAFS ARE FUCKING STUPID FOR TRADING THEM." Everyone on the Leafs "sucks" until they aren't a Leaf anymore. Sometimes those players go on to win a cup somewhere else, and Leafs fans are cheering them on doing it, while Leaf-haters are bashing Leafs fans for that player being successful somewhere else. As if this narrative has never happened to any player for any other team ever. |
